i am very excited to be going to cambodia and vietnam this october. i've been wanting to try cambodian food. my fiance said he and his co-worker almost ate at phnom penh on w. 25th st. once, but they were wary of its emptiness so they crossed the street to bar cento instead. i can't seem to find much about it in the way of reviews, which might not be a good sign...
i tend to get a lot of my restaurant tips from browsing the cleveland eats group on flickr. i tried out a recently opened vietnamese place called pho que huong the other night in the detroit shoreway neighborhood. i got the egg noodles with veggies and tofu, which lasted two meals and was quite delicious, and my fiance got a pork/egg combo of some kind, which he also loved. the restaurant itself was pretty blah, but for the food and prices, we will be back. i haven't been in the detroit shoreway area much at all; i guess i didn't realize it was so close to lakewood. passing through on detroit, i was intrigued by a restaurant called cheddars, a trendy-looking mac 'n cheese joint i'd read about, and then i also want to try gypsy beans coffee. and, of course, there's the cleveland public theater. eager to see a play there soon.
